Franz Graf Conrad von Hötzendorf was born on 11 November 1852 in Penzing, Vienn. Franz Graf Conrad von Hötzendorf entered the Austrian army as they, lieutenant of infantry in 1871, and in 1908 became general of infantry, and Inspector General. Franz Graf Conrad von Hötzendorf was Chief of the General staff, from 1912 to 1916, when, on account of the defeat of the Austrians by Brusiloff in Galicia, Franz Graf Conrad von Hötzendorf resigned.

In 1918 Franz Graf von Hötzendorf commanded the Austrian forces, whose attack on the British and Italians at the Asiago plateau was completely repulsed. His war memoirs appeared 1921 to 1926.
