Hans Karl Meyer was born on 1 December 1898 in Stolzenhagen, Brandenburg, Germany and was a serving member of the Kriegsmarine during World War II and managed to attain the rank of Konteradmiral and went on to command the following G10, T185, Köln and Tirpitz.
Hans Karl Meyer joined Kaiserliche Marine as a Seekadett on 2 January 1917 and went to the naval school and continued his training on board heavy cruiser Freya.
Hans Karl Meyer was given the command of the torpedo boat G10 on 1 October 1928 and remained in command until 25 June 1930 he was then transferred to the torpedo boat T185 on 25 January 1930 until 28 September 1930, 10 years later Hans Karl Meyer was given command of the light cruiser Köln on 12 December 1942 until 21 February 1943 he was once again transferred but this time to the famous battleship Tirpitz on 24 February 1943 until 1 May 1944.
