Personal Information:

Heinrich Gerlach was born on 31 August 1906 in Wismar and was a serving member of the Kriegsmarine during World War II and managed to attain the rank of Kapitän zur See and went on to command the following Z28 and Z25.

Heinrich Gerlach joined Kaiserliche Marine as a Seekadett on 1 April 1925 and went to the naval school in Mürwik and continued his training on board light cruiser Karlsruhe during this time, he was promoted to the rank of Leutnant zur See.

Heinrich Gerlach went on to command, the destroyer Z25 from November 1940, until July 1942. He was then transferred to the destroyer Z28 in January 1944 until July 1944.
