Personal Information:

Helmut Neuss was born on 12 March 1908 in Wetzlar, Germany and was a serving member of the Kriegsmarine during World War II and managed to attain the rank of Konteradmiral and went on to command the following Möwe and Richard Beitzen ( Z4).

Helmut Neuss joined Reichsmarine as a Seekadett on 1926 and went to the naval school in Mürwik and continued his training on board torpedo boat Tiger and the destroyer Max Schultz (Z3) during this time, he was promoted to the rank of Fähnrich zur See.

Helmut Neuss was given the command of the torpedo boat Möwe on March 1940 and remained in command until April 1940. Helmut Neuss was four years later transferred to the destroyer Richard Beitzen ( Z4) on September 1944 until 1945.

After the war Helmut Neuss went on to join the Bundesmarine in 1956 and became Chef des Stabes beim Marineabschnittskommando Ostsee (Chief of staff at the naval command Baltic section), Helmut Neuss retired in March 1968 after attaining the rank of Konteradmiral.
