Ernst Ludwig Thinemann and was a serving member of the Kriegsmarine during World War II and managed to attain the rank of Kapitän zur See and went on to command the following Falke, Coronel and Admiral Scheer.

Ernst Ludwig Thinemann was given the command of the torpedo boat Falke on September 1932 and remained in command until September 1934, eight years later Ernst Ludwig Thinemann was given command of the auxiliary cruiser Coronel on December 1942, he then transferred to the pocket battleship Admiral Scheer on 4 April 1944 until 9 April 1945.
